CDDJ Mourns the Passing of Editorial Board Member Dr. Saleemul Huq OBE

With great sadness, the Climate, Disaster and Development Journal (CDDJ)  announces the passing of its Editorial Board Member, Dr. Saleemul Huq OBE, on 28th of October, 2023.

Dr. Saleemul was one of the first to answer CDDJ’s call to be a member of our Editorial Board, and he was a leading global authority on climate change and its various intersections in sustainable development.

A leading advocate on the plight of vulnerable developing countries as they struggle with the effects of climate change, Dr. Saleemul was one of the lead authors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Recently inducted to the Order of the British Empire by the Queen in 2022, he was also director of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) as well as a senior fellow of the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).

CDDJ sends its warmest condolences to Dr. Saleemul’s family and colleagues. His deep knowledge, advice, and passion towards climate justice will be greatly missed, and his immense contributions to climate research will certainly be hard to replace.
