Climate stories take center stage through film and community conversations.
This May, the Oscar M. Lopez (OML) Center is rolling out the red carpet for climate storytelling. In partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and the Negrosanon Initiative for Climate and the Environment (NICE), the Center is bringing the Mga Kwento ng Klima Roadshow to the City of Smiles—Bacolod City—the first stop in a series of regional screenings aimed at sparking meaningful conversations on climate change through films.
Happening on May 23–24, 2025 at the FDCP Cinematheque Centre Negros, the two-day event will showcase a curated lineup of short films rooted in community stories and lived experiences created by independent Filipino filmmakers who participated in the Mga Kwento ng Klima Short Film Competition. From the films, participants can expect to see stories of resilience, loss, climate adaptation, and hope, all told through the lens of local voices and experiences. Apart from film screenings, the Roadshow also offers interactive learning sessions, talkbacks with filmmakers, and space for dialogue among participants.
Participation to the MKK Roadshow is free, but seats are limited. Registration is now open for two groups:
📌 May 23: Students and Youth Groups: https://bit.ly/MKKSFBacolodYouth
📌 May 24: Civil society organizations, local government units, and other groups: https://bit.ly/MKKSFBacolodLGU
Successful registrants will receive a confirmation email from the MKK Shorts team.
The Mga Kwento ng Klima Roadshow is part of the OML Center’s commitment to expand the reach of climate storytelling across the country. By bringing the MKK films directly to local audiences, the initiative aims to make climate change and its impacts more relatable and accessible. In the coming months, the Center targets to bring the MKK short films to as many provinces as possible to promote wider climate awareness and inspire community-led solutions.
