As the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) officially declared the start of the rainy season, the Oscar M. Lopez Center has released a fact sheet explaining PAGASA terminologies related to this period and their connection to other weather phenomena. This release aims to enhance the public’s understanding and awareness of the terms and concepts used in weather forecasts, advisories, and media reporting.
This Fact Sheet provides definitions and explanations of various weather phenomena commonly encountered during the rainy season. This includes definitions of concepts such as “tropical cyclone,” “ENSO,” and “monsoon,” among others.
