The Oscar M. Lopez Center’s Climate Resilience of the Deaf: Signs for Inclusive Governance and Development Project or Project SIGND will be participating in the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) 2024.
On Wednesday, October 16, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, ??. ??????? ??????, Project SIGND Lead for Inclusion, will join the session, “??? ????? ?? ??????????: ??? ??????? ??? ????????? ???????? ?????????-??? ??????????????”, at the PICC Philippine Pavilion. The session is organized by the Women’s International Network on Disaster Risk Reduction Philippines (WINDRRPH).
Dagani will share insights on the Project’s findings, including the barriers that Deaf people face in relation to climate and disaster resilience, and how DRR organizations and initiatives can be more inclusive.

The Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) 2024 will be hosted by the Government of the Philippines in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) from October 14 to 18, 2024, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila.
Bringing together governments, intergovernmental, international, national and civil society organizations, the private sector, science, academia, and stakeholder groups, the APMCDRR is the main platform in Asia and the Pacific to monitor, review, and enhance cooperation for the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 at the regional level.
The APMCDRR 2024 will focus on the working theme, “Surge to 2030: Enhancing ambition in Asia-Pacific to accelerate disaster risk reduction,” and will provide opportunities to review risk reduction efforts, share innovative solutions and make actionable commitments to accelerate disaster risk reduction by 2030 in the region.
