The OML Center represented by Scientific Director, Dr. Rodel Lasco joined the international community last 17-19 September 2013 at a Planning Meeting to design, develop, and facilitate the Pan-Asia Risk Reduction Fellowship Program (PARR) which aims to strengthen resilience through learning. This Meeting, hosted by the Global Change SysTem for Analysis Research and Training (START) in Washington DC, was participated by an alliance of science-focused, research, education and capacity building organizations.
The PARR Fellowship Program is modeled on aspects of the successful African Climate Change Fellowship Program (ACCFP), which was conceived by START and African partners in 2005. It will offer research, training and educational opportunities to Asian researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to enhance their capabilities for advancing and applying knowledge on critical issues of global environmental change and human-environment security in the Asia-Pacific. The International START Secretariat Executive Director, Dr. Hassan Virji, will visit the Philippines on 13-20 October 2013 to discuss further with OML Center, Manila Observatory, University of the Philippines and other potential partners the following: proposed work; experiences from the African Climate Change Fellowship Program; design of the PARR Program; potential partnerships and alliances; program management, mechanism for implementation; and resource mobilization.
More details will be posted on this site as PARR Program progresses.
